The 2011 Boogie on the Bricks brings more opportunities to get in on the fun. While you’re enjoying the music, be sure to participate in one of the new events happening during the fest:
Hey Look! It’s a Piano!
The public is invited to enjoy their 15 minutes of fame under our Hey Look! It’s A Piano Tent. It’s easy, and fun – just sign up in advance, or fill an open spot on the day of the event. You can play anything you like on the keyboard, and you can bring along additional players and instruments, as long as they’re unplugged. Harmonicas, guitars, drums, bongos, spoons, washboards, kazoos, whistles, whatever you have with you that makes music! We’ll provide an electronic keyboard, a tent, and some chairs for your friends. All ages, all kinds of music, all kinds of fun! Sign up here.
Paint A Giant Quilt Square
As part of the Athens County Quilt Barn Trail, the Dairy Barn Arts Center will be hosting an opportunity for festival-goers to participate in painting the county’s 22nd quilt barn square. A pattern will be chosen ahead of time, and the quilt barn square will be displayed in the City of Athens at a surprise location to be announced after the festival! All ages, all skill levels! Look for the square on Court Street and get ready to paint!
Boogie Buskers Street Performers
For the first-time ever, Boogie on the Bricks is creating a corps of street performers, the Boogie Buskers. We hope you enjoy these performers – tips are allowed! Look for TWISTED on the streets between 5:30 and 7:30pm for a balloon creation, along with fun performances from other local artists. To work as a Boogie Busker, please email boogieonthebricks@gmail.com. (Only registered buskers will be allowed to work during the festival.)
